Google and NASA have been working on a lightning-fast quantum computer that is 3,600 times faster than a supercomputer at solving complex problems. Has Google won the race to build the world’s first commercial quantum computer? Huawei said Western Europe proved a lucrative market for its Consumer Business Group in 2015, with sales revenue in the region growing 45 per cent year-on-year. The vendor said total sales order value in Western Europe exceeded $2 billion (€1.8 billion) on the back of an increase in the number of its smartphones on sale in the region, closer operator and channel partner collaborations, and an improved retail experience for consumers. Richard Ren, CEO of Huawei's Consumer Business Group in Western Europe, said the company is offering more mid- and high-end smartphones in the market, and that its products "can be experienced in the majority of the region's shopping hot spots." The company's efforts surrounding smartphones, collaboration and retail experience "are clearly reflected in the high sales performance but also in the increased brand awareness in the region," Ren added. More than 2 billion people across the globe will have access to the Internet via a mobile device next year, accounting for well over half of the 3.2 billion Internet users worldwide in 2016. This predicts IDC in it's annual report. The research company said the total number of mobile Internet users is forecast to rise at a pace of 2 per cent annually through 2020, while the number of people accessing the Internet exclusively via a mobile device will increase by 25 per cent a year over the next five years. However, IDC noted that this might change if new methods of accessing the Internet are successfully introduced. For example, Google, SpaceX and Facebook are among some of the companies that plan to make the Internet available to the other 4 billion people on the planet via high-altitude planes, balloons and satellites. A study paid for by the Colorado Tourism Office presents evidence that marijuana is playing a larger and larger role in attracting tourists to the state, The Denver Post reports. Marijuana businesses have been arguing as much for years, but state tourism officials had maintained that the recent bump in the number of visitors to the state - breaking multiple records in the past two years - was due solely to innovative tourism marketing moves, such as the state’s “Come To Life” ad campaign. Surveys conducted in October and November, though, which account for the percentage of potential tourists that could have seen the ad campaign, show that some 49 percent of tourism decisions were influenced by the state’s marijuana laws. Despite this, the survey doesn’t account for any potential loss of tourism due to the state’s marijuana laws.
